Therapeutic Acupuncture
Acupuncture can be used for pain relief, or for various systemic pathologies as diagnosed with Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Acupuncture for Pain
Acupuncture can relieve trigger points and stimulate blood flow in areas that need healing. Common conditions include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, strained/sprained muscles or tendons, and joint pain from overuse, injury or poor posture.
Acupuncture for Pathologies
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the signs and symptoms a person experiences reflect a Zang Fu Pathology; imbalances of Yin and Yang in specific organs of our body. The series of acupuncture points on meridians/channels along our body correspond to each organ, and are specifically chosen to direct the flow of Qi in harmony of Yin and Yang, and therefore bring good health.
Zang Fu pathologies often correspond to western (conventional Medicine) pathologies, for example infertility, various digestive disorders, menstrual irregularity, anxiety and depression. Other times the symptoms a person is experiences don’t point to a clear conventional diagnosis, yet there is a distinct Zang Fu pathology which clearly encompasses the totality of these symptoms.
Both Naturopathic Doctors and Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners can determine a suitable acupuncture protocol according to Traditional Chinese Medicine.
